A celebration of our patron saint\, St Andrew\, at a top-class hotel in Bangkok\, it offers delicious food\, free-flow drinks\, Scottish entertainment and ceilidh dancing. \nScottish fare is featured in the five-course menu\, a whole course being dedicated to the haggis. Wine\, beer and whisky are included in the cost of a ticket. We are lucky to have generous sponsors who provide drinks at the Drinks Reception and the Ball. \nThe British Club Bangkok Pipe Band have played at our balls since it was formed in 2008. They delight us with a melody of Scottish tunes. The Gordon School of Dancing Montrose have wowed us at balls since 2014 with dynamic\, modern routines of Highland dancing. Robina Addison\, leader and choreographer\, brings a different group of girls to perform for us each year and ensures they enjoy new experiences and Thai culture during their visit. \nWell-known bands from Scotland are flown over to play and call the dances. The Graham Geddes band provided traditional Scottish Country Dance music for 19 years at our balls. Then came Bahookie with their fantastic rock ceilidh for several years. In 2023 Whisky Kiss made their debut in Bangkok with a mix of modern and traditional. \nThis ball is unique in Bangkok and not to be missed!

SUMMARY:Burn's Supper
DESCRIPTION:Burns Night is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet\, Robert Burns (25th January 1759 – 21st July 1796). He is widely regarded as the national Poet of Scotland. In 2009\, STV ran a television series and public vote on who was “The Greatest Scot” of all time. Robert Burns won. Burns Nights are normally held on or near the poet’s birthday. Communities with a Scottish connection (and some with none!) mark Burns Night all over the world. \nJoin the global celebration at our Burns Night and experience a traditional Burns supper starring haggis\, of course. Led in by a piper\, the chef presents a haggis for the Address to the Haggis\, a recital of Burns’ famous poem. Free-flow wine and beer are included in the cost of a ticket. Needless to say\, no Burns Night would be complete without some whisky. \nAfter the supper are short speeches\, each followed by a toast. The Immortal Memory is a tribute to Robert Burns. The ‘Address to the Lassies’ and the ‘Reply to the Laddies’ give the speakers’ amusing views on the opposite sex. \nMusical entertainment is provided by the British Club Bangkok Pipe Band and other local musicians and singers. Other poems by Burns may be recited; Tam O’ Shanter has featured more often than any other!
